What do you think: plans for The Northern Road and Bringelly Road interchange upgrade have now been released for public feedback.

The concept designs and review of environmental factors for The Northern Road and Bringelly Road interchange upgrade have now been released for public consultation.

Federal Member for Macarthur Russell Matheson said it was another key milestone in the Australian and NSW governments’ commitment to deliver the $3.6 billion Western Sydney infrastructure plan.

“As part of the Western Sydney infrastructure plan we will deliver a major project to increase road capacity and build a new underpass to separate vehicles travelling on The Northern Road and Bringelly Road,” Mr Matheson said.

“It essential we build the infrastructure the growing Western Sydney region needs, particularly with its population set to grow from two million to three million people in the next 20 years.

“These upgrades will also ensure the future Western Sydney airport has strong landside access.

“Community feedback to help inform the final designs is being invited until Friday, December 18,’’ Mr Matheson said.

The State Member for Camden Chris Patterson said the design was innovative and would support the movement of people and goods across the region.

“As part of the upgrade, both The Northern Road and Bringelly Road will be widened to four lanes, with capacity for six lanes in the future,” Mr Patterson said.

“The preferred option being an underpass will also provide less of a visual impact than a raised overpass and ensure a first class infrastructure link at a major intersection in Western Sydney.

“Commuters will benefit with improved public transport opportunities along the route supporting continued population growth from residential and commercial development in the area.

“Heavy vehicles will also benefit with improved turning lanes planned at the interchange, including at the intersection of Greendale Road and The Northern Road.”

The community is invited to information sessions today (Wednesday, December 2), from 3.30pm to 7.30pm, and on Saturday, December 5, from 12pm to 2.30pm, at Bringelly Community Centre, 5 Greendale Road, Bringelly.

The review of environmental factors is available to view on the Roads and Maritime Services website and in hard copy at Liverpool City Library, Camden Council and the Narellan Library.
