The annual Mayor’s Christmas Appeal helps to bring joy to local families in Campbelltown doing it tough this festive season.
The appeal, which has been running for more than a decade, is seeking donations of new, unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items.
Items can be placed in the Christmas donation box, located in the main foyer of Campbelltown City Council’s Civic Centre building, on the corner of Queen and Broughton Streets.
Second hand or wrapped items are unable to be accepted.
Donations can also be left in collection boxes at library branches across Campbelltown.
Mayor Paul Hawker said the appeal was a Campbelltown tradition and demonstrated the city’s strong sense of community spirit.
“I am very proud of Campbelltown’s magnificent community spirit, with the thoughtful support and generous giving of so many making it a truly wonderful place to live, work and play,” Cr Hawker said.
“For some members of our community, Christmas can be a particularly difficult and lonely time, with no presents under the tree and no network of family or friends to share a meal with on Christmas Day.
“I encourage residents to give generously to assist people in need at this special time of year, and to help share the goodwill in whatever way you can,” Cr Hawker said.
Donations can be made until 4.30pm on Monday, December 21.
All donated items will go to the Macarthur Combined Churches’ Christmas luncheon, to be held in the Campbelltown Civic Hall on Christmas Day.
