Challenge: The Ghosts first grade have a big run chase ahead of them next Saturday at North Sydney Oval. To win they will have to score 370 runs.

The Ghosts first grade travelled to the picturesque North Sydney Oval on Saturday only to lose the toss and find themselves in the field for what was to become a long day, Jason Ellsmore reports.

The traditionally high scoring ground produced a total of 7-369 that the Ghosts bats will have to chase down next week.

Captain Josh Clarke used nine bowlers in his attempt to curtail the North Sydney bats, in particularly their opening bat who posted 198 not out to match his previous innings of 166 runs against Eastern Suburbs.

Best with the ball for Campbelltown Camden was Tom Rogers who toiled hard for figures of 3-62 from 21 overs.

Luke Webb also bowled well taking 2-47 off 13.

♦ Second grade, at home at Raby, won the toss and batted. Within moments of the Ghosts innings opening they found themselves in trouble with both opening bats dismissed LBW with the score on 12.

But this would become the only period of the innings when the Bears were on top as the Ghosts went on to post a massive 6-422.

Ben Bourke (71 runs) and Tylar Edwards (50 runs) consolidated the innings with a solid 90 run third wicket partnership, before captain Dan Constable completely dominated the opposition bowlers.

Constable’s superb, chanceless innings of 158 not out was the fourth highest score individual score in the club’s second grade record books.

The skipper was well supported by Jack Bray who posted a tidy 69 runs and Toby Flynn-Duncombe who raced to 59 before stumps.

♦ Third grade travelled to Tunks Park, Cammeray, where North Sydney won the toss and batted for 270 runs. Captain PJ DeZoysa took 2-15 along with Josh Appleton and Faisal Nasim, who also took two wickets each.

♦ Fourth grade bowled splendidly on Raby #2 after winning the toss and sending the Bears in.

North Sydney were all out for 170 in the 60th over, with the local bowlers sharing the wickets.

Josh Langford (3-33), Roshan DeZoysa (2-15) and Ryan Smith (2-30) applied the pressure throughout several tidy spells.

The Ghosts are currently 2-47 in reply.

♦ Fifth Grade managed to scrape together 186 runs on North Sydney Oval #2.

Nick Appleton (43 runs) and Nathan Baker (41 runs) assisted in providing a total for the Ghosts to bowl to.

At stumps North Sydney are 1-10 in response.
