A glorious summer day has greeted the hundreds of people participating in this year’s 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer at the athletics track of Campbelltown sports stadium.
This annual event is so much more than fundraising to make sure we have the best cancer services in Campbelltown and Camden.
It’s also a gathering where the community come together for fun, food, music and a heck of a lot of fun.
As much as cancer is a very serious subject, 24 Hour leads the way in emphasising the importance of standing by those we love when it happens.
Stories of courage, resilience, and of survival, are part and parcel of the 24 Hour Walk every October.
But with a large number of stalls offering everything from donuts to sport memorabilia, and important information, there’s never a dull moment.

Ingleburn Rotary club is cooking up a storm (pictured) for most of the day, so you won’t go hungry.
You will also find popcorn at the Event Cinemas stand.
In the meantime, young local bands are up on the stage entertaining the mob as they make their way around the athletics track, both as a tribute to cancer survivors and their families, but also to check out what’s on offer this year.
We can tell you there’s a stand selling garden rocks, another one selling raffle tickets, and right next to the Rotary sausage sizzle is an ice cream van.
Some local schools have information stands, including St Greg’s, Airds High School, and Beverly Park School, as does the NSW Government.
Team names – from Scrambled Eggs to Maria’s Marchers – are proudly displayed out the front of the tents, a reminder that many of them keep coming back year after year.
So, what are you waiting for, grab the family and head down to the athletics track. The event is on all day today – enter via the Pembroke Road gate.
