There are no dramatic wrecking balls swinging away, but demolition is well under way at 8
Dumaresq Street to prepare the site for Campbelltown’s first 21st century tower.

Once demolition of the old squash courts building – which is squeezed between the
post office and the cinemas – is complete, excavation will begin for four underground levels.

The plans for the $65 million project include a mixture of residential apartments and commercial space.

The site is around the corner from the heart of Campbelltown’s city centre and a five minute walk from the railway station.

Saxon Developments, the Ingleburn based company behind the Dumaresq Street project, hope that all things being equal it will be up and running towards the end of next year.

Either way, the 14 storey tower will be the first of several high rise projects in the planning system, including Campbelltown RSL’s and the giant Kellicar Road proposal not too far away.

It’s all part of the vision of Saxon Development, who say they want to build something that makes a difference, a building that’s a real game changer for Campbelltown and the entire region.

The original application for redevelopment of the site was lodged with council in late 2016.

A 45 metre height limit was imposed on the development when it received final approval to proceed.

But now, finally, it’s full steam ahead for 8 Dumaresq Street – even without a wrecking ball in sight.
