Women rule, OK: Alexis Bowen, the founder of the Bin Chicken company, and top, Anne Parnham, one of our great business women.

Campbelltown mayor George Greiss says International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate those women in our city who make a difference, not only in our community but also in our everyday lives.

“Throughout Campbelltown’s history, we have had many great women contribute to building up our city into the place it is today,’’ he says.

“This is an opportunity for us to celebrate and remember those contributions while also acknowledging the women who are continuing that legacy today,” Cr Greiss said.

The stories of four women who have been part of the story and fabric of the region will be showcased as part of Women of Macarthur: Stories from the past, a free presentation at the HJ Daley Library on Wednesday, March 9 from 10am to 11am.

The presentation is part of a range of free events planned in Campbelltown to celebrate the 2022 International Women’s Day celebrations.

The names of the four great women, whose great deeds do not often get the recognition they deserve, are a mystery.

To find out who they were and what they did you will need to attend the presentation at the library on March 9.

Campbelltown arts centre will host Down to Earth, an International Women’s week special event where local women can listen to the stories of local artists and learn clay art with the Macarthur Ceramic Network on Friday, March 11, between 5pm and 7pm.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #BreakTheBias and encourages people to work collectively for a gender-equal world.
