Council CEO Ben Taylor [pictured above] says the next five years will be pivotal for Wollondilly as growth accelerates.

Mr Taylor, who has been reappointed to the post for a further five years, said he was looking forward to working closely with the mayor and councillors, staff and the community to deliver the outcomes “this beautiful shire and community deserve’’.

“I feel privileged every day to be the CEO here and am grateful to have been given an opportunity to lead the organisation and deliver on council’s vision for the coming five years,’’ he said.

“We have laid the foundations: year on year getting through the backlog in road improvements, delivering the biggest community infrastructure investment ever seen all across the Shire, and facilitating thousands of local jobs for our residents.

“We’re prepared for and are actively managing the significant growth across the Shire and ensuring that we finally see the infrastructure and funding flow to match the housing growth,” Mr Taylor said.

Mayor Matt Gould said that Mr Taylor has the support of the elected council to lead the organisation for the next five years.

“Since joining us in 2019, he has continuously demonstrated his commitment to Wollondilly and advocated enthusiastically on behalf of our community,” Mayor Gould said.

“During this time, council has delivered a massive range of new capital works right across the Shire, including buildings, parks, playgrounds and sporting facilities.

“While there is always room for improvement when it comes to our roads, we are seeing faster initial response times for road repair requests, and we have a plan in place to continue to improve our road network in the long term.

“In the next five years, the population of the Wollondilly Shire is expected to grow by approximately 20 percent to 72,000. Mr Taylor has been setting us up to manage our growth for the future; by improving council’s processes, investing in our people and equipment, and having a strong financial plan in place.’’
