Wests Group Macarthur have just announced they are closing all of their clubs for at least a week.

The club board made the decision today after being informed two patrons who had visited the Leumeah premises (pictured above) recently had tested positive to Covid-19.

“The first is the patron identified yesterday, who visited on Friday 10 July (between 8pm and midnight) and Sunday 12 July (between 12am and 2.30am),’’ said the Wests board in a media statement issued today.

“The second is a friend who also attended the club on Friday 10 July (between 8pm and midnight).

“The club has been advised that the patrons came into contact with the virus prior to attending the venue.

“NSW Health last night updated their advice, and is now asking all patrons and staff who visited the venue during these periods to get tested, even if you do not have any symptoms. Once tested, you are required to self-isolate until you get your result.

“If the test is negative and you develop respiratory symptoms within 14 days, NSW Health is advising to get re-tested and self-isolate,’’ the Wests board said in the statement.

The club has provided the contact details of all patrons and staff that were on the premises during these times to NSW Health, who will be contacting everyone directly.

“The club has been operating under a strict CovidSAFE plan and has gone above and beyond mandated requirements, including temperature checking of staff and patrons, dedicated CovidSAFE ambassadors and has implemented regular intensive cleaning practices,’’ the board said in the statement.

“All 320 staff members across the Wests Group will be tested as a precaution, and while NSW Health has advised that we can continue trading, out of an abundance of caution and effective immediately, we will be closing all four of our clubs (including Lakeside Golf Course and our 14 tennis courts at Leumeah) for at least the next 7 days, while tests and deep cleans are undertaken.

“We look forward to welcoming patrons back as soon as the time is right.’’
