Member for Werriwa Anne Stanley is encouraging residents in her electorate to nominate a local black spot road for funding.
“The Federal Government’s Black Spot Program will ensure that our local roads are safe and secure for our community and I encourage anyone who has concerns about a particular black spot to nominate it for consideration,’’ Ms Stanley said.
The program funds safety measures such as traffic signals and roundabouts at locations where a number of serious crashes are known to have occurred or are at risk of occurring.
The aim is to reduce serious injuries and deaths on our roads.
Five such projects in Werriwa have received funding in the latest round of the program.
They include installing guideposts with reflectors, retro reflective pavement markers on centre or edge lines and seal the road shoulder at Denham Court Road from Campbelltown Road to Fox Valley Road, Denham Court, pictured above.
Improving deflection angle of the existing roundabout at South Liverpool Road and St Johns Road, Busby is another local black spot that was funded.
Installing slow points, raised thresholds, and/or horizontal deviations at midblock locations, intersections, and/or pedestrian crossings at North Liverpool Road and Wilson Road, Green Valley was another.
A fourth will see the installation of slow points, raised thresholds, and/or horizontal deviations at midblock locations, intersections, and/or pedestrian crossings at South Liverpool Road and Whitford Road, Green Valley.
Slow points, raised thresholds, and/or horizontal deviations at mid-block locations, intersections, and/or pedestrian crossings at Reilly Street and Webster Road, Lurnea was the fifth Werriwa black spot funded.
