The Leppington community will soon benefit from a safety upgrade and improved connectivity with work to install a temporary roundabout at a key intersection of Elizabeth Drive and Devonshire Road in Kemps Creek starting this week.

This will allow motorists to adjust to the new construction conditions as works continue across Western Sydney to upgrade and build the roads needed ahead of the opening of Western Sydney Airport in 2026.

A raised concrete median from Devonshire Road to just west of Salisbury Avenue will also be implemented, meaning motorists can no longer turn right in and out of Salisbury Avenue.

The work hours are from 8pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday. No work will take place on Friday and Saturday nights or public holidays.

A construction compound will be established for these works at the northern end of Salisbury Avenue, Kemps Creek between 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.  Materials will also be delivered to and from the construction compound during these hours.

There will be temporary traffic changes along the work zone during work hours to ensure the safety of motorists and workers while the equipment is used, delivered and removed.

The safety upgrade is being delivered as part of the M12 Motorway project, which will provide direct access to the Western Sydney International Airport at Badgerys Creek and connect to Sydney’s motorway network.

“The start of construction for this long-overdue upgrade is a big win for community safety in Leppington,’’ says Nathan Hagarty, Member for Leppington, pictured above with roads minister John Graham.

“Drivers have been left to navigate this risky intersection for far too long due to 12 years of inaction by the previous government.

“Whether it’s schools, health or important infrastructure upgrades like the upgrade of this dangerous intersection, the government I am a part of is delivering for Leppington and the South West,” Mr Hagarty said.
