Catherine Field truck driver in court after resisting arrest

A police officer suffered bruising and swelling to his face, arms and knee when he tried to arrest the driver of a truck that had crashed in Catherine Field on Sunday evening.

The 37 year old man allegedly continued to resist, before OC spray was deployed and he was arrested.

The Catherine Field man was taken to Narellan Police Station, where he allegedly returned a breath analysis reading of 0.154.

He was charged with driving with high-range PCA, assaulting a police officer in execution of his duty and cause actual bodily harm and resisting arrest.

The man was refused bail to appear before Picton Local Court today.

The incident occurred just before 6pm when officers from Campbelltown Highway Patrol attended Barry Avenue, Catherine Field, after reports a Mack truck with a trailer attached had left the road and crashed.

Upon arrival, an officer spoke to the uninjured driver, who was standing nearby.

In a separate incident, a woman was also due to appear in court today after a person was allegedly bitten on the face and another stabbed in Gregory Hills over the weekend.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command were informed concerns were held for a woman after witnesses reported yelling from inside a home on Farm Cove Street, Gregory Hills, about 9.30pm on Saturday.

Police allege two women were attacked when they went to check on the resident’s welfare, with one woman bitten on the face and a second suffering cuts to her forearm, hand and torso.

Emergency services were contacted, and NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the injured women.

A perimeter was established with negotiators and Tactical Operation Unit (TOU) officers brought to the scene to assist.

About 12.30am, a 24-year-old woman was arrested at the home and was taken to Campbelltown Hospital for assessment.

She was released into police custody about 10.15am on Sunday and was taken to Narellan Police Station where she was charged with reckless wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and assaulting police.

She has been refused bail to will appear via AVL at Picton Local Court.
