The 2025 WomenCan Team Teal campaign officially came to a close last Saturday at Club Menangle after raising $11,400.

Team Teal raises funds – and awareness – for gynaecological cancer research and the research and education program, Survivors Teaching Students.

Racing at Club Menangle helped raise $6,400 this year – plus there was a generous $5,000 contributed by Cheryl and Colin McDowell.

Across the Team Teal period, February 1 – March 15, Club Menangle committed to donating $200 for every female training win and every female driving win that was recorded on the track.

“A fantastic result has been achieved by WomenCan Team Teal at our track with 32 wins throughout the campaign,’’ says Bruce Christison, chief executive officer at Club Menangle.

“A big thank you has to be extended to all female participants who were the key driving figures behind another successful Team Teal campaign.

“At the start of the campaign I received a call from the McDowells who said they wanted to contribute $5,000 to whatever total we could raise on track.

“This is typical of Cheryl and Colin who have been incredible supporters of harness racing but are even more generous when it comes to helping out a great cause like this and we cannot thank them enough,” he said.

Team Teal was showcased on one of harness racing’s most iconic stages, Carnival of Miracles, with nine teal wins added to the tally across the two nights.

Victorian-based trainer Emma Stewart recorded nine Club Menangle wins throughout the six-week campaign, including the group one NSW Derby Final win of Always Hot on Miracle Mile Night.

Kate Gath also secured a driving double on Miracle Mile Night when she partnered Don’t Stop Dreaming NZ to victory in the group 2 Australian Light Horse FFA and Showmethetanlines NZ in the group 3 Sapling Stakes.
