It’s not officially opened yet, but Camden’s first synthetic football field, Nott Oval, is ready for some soccer action.

“With a growing demand for football in our area, and of course our new A-League club, Macarthur FC Bulls kicking off in this year, this project was very exciting for us,’’ says the Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli.

“I am thrilled to see it complete and looking terrific.

“Council is committed to providing our residents with the highest quality sport and recreation facilities.

“This will be another fantastic facility to be enjoyed by both a range of local football clubs and the wider community.

 “Having this facility up and running during what has been such an unsettling and uncertain time is really fantastic – not only for morale but also to help support the local economy.

Kicking goals: Checking out the new synthetic playing surface at Nott Oval are the deputy mayor, Cr Rob Mills, Mayor Theresa Fedeli and State Camden MP Peter Sidgreaves.

“I would like to thank both the Federal and State Governments for their funding of $2.8 million to go towards this facility, as part of the Western Parkland Liveability Fund.”

Cr Fedeli said she was looking forward to next month’s official opening of Nott Oval, which is located on the corner of Elyard Street and Richardson Road, Narellan.

 In addition to constructing the new synthetic football field over the existing turf pitch, the Nott Oval project also saw Camden Council:

  • Upgrade the existing parking facilities;
  • Produce field marking, to accommodate winter and summer football competitions
  • Reserve bench booths; and
  • Complete landscaping, fencing and footpath works.
