Swadisht, the food and culture evening that showcases the rich and diverse flavours of the Asian subcontinent is returning to Campbelltown later this month.

It will once again be hosted by the Alkalizer eatery at the Campbelltown Civic Centre on Saturday, October 19.

This will be the fourth time this colourful cultural event will be held in the heart of the Campbelltown town centre.

And while food is at the heart of Swadisht, there is much more to this event.

“Swadisht is a celebration of the rich culinary heritage of the Asian Subcontinent, blending time honoured traditions with modern techniques,’’ says Shefali Pall, head of marketing and product at Alkalizer.

“We are thrilled to offer an experience that showcases not only the diversity of the food but also the beauty of subcontinental cultural practices.”

As those who have attended previously will attest, Swadisht is an immersive cultural event that features live music performances by local artists who showcase the rhythms of Jugalbandi, a musical dialogue between Tabla, Flute, Rhabarb, and Dhol.

Guests can also explore the art of Henna and browse unique jewellery offerings that reflect the diverse beauty of the region.

“We want to create an atmosphere where people feel connected to both the food and the cultural roots behind it,’’ says Ms Pall.

“Our goal is to honour the traditions of the Asian subcontinent while introducing a new, modern twist.”

The food on offer in 2024 will bring together centuries-old recipes, cultural traditions, and modern culinary techniques as part of a special cultural event.

Swadisht ’24 is set to be a culinary adventure that highlights traditional flavours from across the Indian subcontinent.

From classic street foods like Pani Poori and Bhel Chaat to hearty favourites such as Pav Bhaji and Tandoori Chicken, the menu reflects the deep history of the subcontinent’s cuisine, incorporating innovative cooking techniques.

Vegetarian and vegan options such as Paneer Tikka and Tandoori Gobi ensure there’s something for everyone.

Special highlights of the evening include live preparation of traditional drinks such as Mango Lassi and Masala Chai, along with the herbal drink Rooh Afza.

Desserts like Gajar ka Halwa and Saffron Kulfi will provide a sweet conclusion to the evening.
