From the frying pan to the fire: Storm ahead for Tigers

Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall has named his side for Saturday’s Round 18 match against the Storm at Leichhardt Oval.

Not surprisingly, there are a few changes to the side following Sunday’s loss 40-6 loss to the Roosters at Allianz.

In a tough three week schedule, after the Storm the Tigers will head to the Shire to take on the Sharks.

Charlie Staines returns to the team on the wing after missing the last two games, with Solomona Faataape pushing into the centres to replace Brent Naden.

John Bateman replaces Reuben Porter in the second row after making his return from injury last weekend off the bench.

Heath Mason returns to the team in the No.14 jersey after being 18th man against the Roosters.

In other Wests Tigers news, the club have given Stefano Utoikamanu (pictured) permission to test the market but remain hopeful of retaining their star prop long term.

There has been much speculation about the future of the 24-year-old, who is off contract at Wests Tigers at the end of the 2025 season.

Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson says the club is very keen for Utoikamanu to stay.

“We’ve sat down with Stefano, his partner Chiara, and his management, and we all want what’s best for him and his family,” Richardson said.

“Stefano has given us no indication that he wants to leave, but he does want to have a look around, and we are totally comfortable with that.”
