In 2021, young prop forward Stefano Utoikamanu was one of the bright spots in another season to forget for Wests Tigers and their fans.

It’s good to see the club has recognised that and move quickly to lock in the big fellow for another couple seasons more than his current contract.

Earlier today, Wests Tigers revealed that Stefano Utoikamanu has signed a new playing contract to extend his future at the club.

Already contracted for the 2022 and 2023 NRL seasons, Utoikamanu has signed on for a further two years, which will see him remain in Wests Tigers colours until at least the end of the 2025 season.

Since making his NRL debut in 2020, the 21-year-old prop has played 24 NRL games and was included in the NSW extended Origin squad for game three last season.

There’s no doubt that Utoikamanu will go close to playing Origin this year.

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire was delighted with Utoikamanu’s decision to commit his future to the club.

“We’re all very pleased to see Stefano re-sign with Wests Tigers,” Maguire said.

“His decision to commit his future to Wests Tigers further highlights what we are building at the club and I’m sure that Stefano will play a big part in delivering that.

“He has continued to work hard at all aspects of his game, and I look forward to seeing him continue to improve over the coming seasons.”

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe congratulated Utoikamanu on his new deal.

“On behalf of all at Wests Tigers, I’d like to congratulate Stefano on his contract extension that will see him remain at the club for the next four seasons,” Pascoe said.

“He is a great young man who constantly displays all the core values we want Wests Tigers to be known by, and I look forward to watching him play a leading role in the success of this club moving forward.”
