Spring Farm blaze claims life of 60 year old man

An investigation is under way after a fatal house fire near Camden just after midnight on Friday.

Emergency services were called to Corder Drive, Spring Farm, following reports of a fire at a disability support residence.

Officers attached to Camden Police Area Command attended the scene and located a house well alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze; however, the home was destroyed.

A body was located at the back of the house and is yet to be formally identified, although it is believed to be that of a 60 year old man, one of three residents in the house.

Two other occupants present at the time were able to get out of the house.

They were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A crime scene was established and police commenced an investigation into the incident.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man missing from Campbelltown.

Jason Phillips, aged 34, was last seen in Queen Street about 2am on Monday, December 22.

Officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command were notified on Boxing Day and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

Police hold concerns for Jason’s welfare as he requires a regular medication.

Jason is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm – 180cm tall, of medium build, with dark short hair and blue eyes. He has a nose ring and large black stud earrings in both ears.

He was last seen wearing a red flannel hooded shirt, a black hat and black pants.

Inquiries have established he may be carrying a black backpack and a green Woolworths eco bag.

Jason is believed to frequent the Bondi, Green Square, Zetland and Sydney’s CBD areas.
