Stockland has opened a new $20 million sporting hub in Willowdale, a 5.5 hectare state of the art complex that will serve the growing South Western Sydney region.
It is located on Willowdale Drive, in the heart of Denham Court and is designed to meet the increasing demand for high quality recreational spaces.
It features a multipurpose field tailored for AFL and cricket, alongside barbecue facilities, a picnic area, a children’s playground, and an amenities block that acknowledges thousands of years of Aboriginal heritage in the area through creative brickwork and storytelling plaques.
The Willowdale Sports Field was formally opened on Sunday with a community event that drew more than 2000 residents and visitors.
Families enjoyed a full day of activities, from sports demonstrations and kids’ games to face painting, food trucks, and live entertainment.
With more than 10,000 residents already calling Willowdale home – and population growth across South West Sydney projected to more than double the state average over the next 15 years – the sports field is predicted to draw an abundance of athletes and community members each year.

Up to 1000 people are expected to visit the sports field each week for a mix of organised sport and casual play, catering to all ages and abilities.
Sophie Ale, Stockland general manager master planned communities NSW/ACT, said the sports field was a central hub for sport, culture and community connection.
“The Willowdale sports field offers residents and the wider community a place to stay active, connect, and enjoy state of the art sporting facilities right on their doorstep,” Ms Ale said.
“We know how important infrastructure like this is to the community and we look forward to seeing it used – whether that be budding or experienced athletes, or young families wanting to kick a ball around.”
Member for Leppington, Nathan Hagarty, highlighted the sports field’s role in enriching community life.
“The new Willowdale Sports Field will be a centrepiece for sport and community life in Denham Court,’’ he said.
“From weekend sports matches to family picnics and strolls through the nearby nature reserve, it offers something for everyone.”
Mayor of Campbelltown Darcy Lound said the opening was a milestone for the community.
“Willowdale is a vital part of Campbelltown’s growth, and this new facility, along with the broader precinct, is a great example of creating vibrant, inclusive spaces that foster a strong sense of community.”
