Spend locally to help our own businesses stay afloat

If every resident spent $20 locally each week, it would add $4.69 million into the Campbelltown economy.

Over a year the boost to local business would be a huge $245 million, as well as the flow on effect on employment.

That’s why residents are being encouraged to back local businesses by getting behind the Campbelltown City Own It campaign.

The campaign is an initiative of Campbelltown Council in the lead up to Small Business Month in October and aims to encourage residents to spend locally.

Throughout October, council will be sharing the stories of Campbelltown businesses who employ less than 20 people across various social media channels to celebrate their contributions to the local community.

Businesses are also encouraged to sign up to council’s business directory on the website, which will be promoted to the community.

“Small business is the lifeblood of our local economy, employing our residents and putting money back into our community,” says Mayor George Brticevic.

“We have many wonderful local small businesses including restaurants and cafes, independent grocers, butchers, retailers and many more who make up our unique and diverse local economy,” Cr Brticevic said.

“We know the Covid pandemic has had an impact on these businesses so we want to encourage our residents to think about them when they are considering their next purchase or thinking about a job they need done,” he said.
