A $5 million upgrade of Silverdale Road will set it up as a connection route to the under construction international airport at Badgerys Creek.
Wollondilly Shire Council has welcomed the $5 million worth of funding through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Program, which will be used towards construction on the Silverdale Road upgrade.
This project will begin in the Silverdale township in early September, with major improvements planned between Warradale Road and the Silverdale shopping centre.
Work will include resurfacing the road, widening road shoulders to allow road side parking, kerb and gutter works, drainage, a new footpath and town entry zones.
Wollondilly mayor Robert Khan said that the upgrade would be welcomed by Silverdale and Warragamba residents as well as the broader Wollondilly community.
“This project will see the quality of Silverdale Road made more suitable for the growing demand of the Wollondilly community2,’’ he says.
“And it will set up Silverdale Road as a connection route to the planned airport at Badgery’s Creek,” he said.
“I would like to thank the Federal Government and the Member for Hume, Angus Taylor for helping to make this important project possible.”
A South Western Sydney company, Nace Civil Engineering, have been awarded the tender for construction, with the works scheduled to take approximately one year.
