Man in court after 11 hour siege at Macquarie Fields

A wanted man was arrested and charged after an 11 hour siege in Macquarie Fields.

About 8.30am on Friday officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command attended a home on Catkin Way, Macquarie Fields, following reports of a domestic incident.

When police arrived, police were told a 31-year-old man was on the roof of the premises, following a verbal argument with his partner.

The man remained on the roof, with local and specialist police – including negotiators – establishing a perimeter around the premises.

Negotiations continued throughout the day, and about 7.50pm that evening the man came down from the roof and was arrested by police.

The man was taken to Campbelltown Hospital for observation.

Upon release, the man was taken to Campbelltown police station where he was charged with outstanding warrants.

The man was refused bail and appeared before Parramatta Local Court the next day.

In a separate incident, a man is in a stable condition after he was stabbed in the chest during an argument.

The second man involved has been arrested and charged over the incident.

Emergency services were called to Menangle Road, Campbelltown, following reports of an assault.

Upon arrival, police were told two men – who are known to each other – were involved in an argument before one of the men sustained a stab wound to the chest.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 28-year-old before taking him to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command arrested a 21-year-old man at the scene before he was taken to Campbelltown Police Station.

He was charged with wounding with intent and bail refused to appear at Campbelltown Local Court.
