A Narellan man has been charged following an investigation into the sexual assault of a girl under the age of 10 earlier this year.
In January, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports the girl had been sexually assaulted by a man who was known to her.
Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested a 48-year-old man at a Narellan home just after 10am on Friday.
He was taken to Narellan Police Station and charged with sexual intercourse with child under the age of 10 years, two counts of intentionally carry out sexual act with child under 10 years (DV), and intentional incite child under 10 years do sexual act to them (DV).
The man appeared at Campbelltown Local Court on Friday and was formally refused bail to re-appear at the same court on May 13.
The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.

In a separate incident, local police are appealing for public assistance following the large scale theft of copper from a housing estate in Oran Park.
Between 5pm on Thursday, February 27 and 8am on Monday, March 9, more than one kilometre of recently laid copper traffic signal cables was cut and removed from the housing estate on Northern Road, Oran Park.
Following this, between 12pm on Monday, March 9 and 8am the next day, another 1.5 kilometre of copper traffic signal cables was cut from a different section of the same housing estate.
The value of both of these thefts is believed to be more than $200,000.
Both the matters were reported to police, with the Camden Police Area Command commencing an investigation into the theft.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the area at that time to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Police are also urging local businesses to be vigilant, and to report any suspicious behaviour, with copper often sold to scrap metal dealers.
