Warren: Labor will deliver a Service NSW centre in Campbelltown

The election of a Labor Government in NSW could mean the opening of a Service NSW centre in Campbelltown.

Local MP Greg Warren says a Chris Minns Government will conduct a review regarding the need for Service NSW centres throughout the state – including here in Campbelltown.

And he’s confident it will lead to the delivery of a Service NSW centre in his electorate.

Campbelltown residents have been left high and dry following the closure of the Campbelltown RMS office in 2015.

The closure of the Ingleburn RMS office also in the same year, meant that every resident in Campbelltown local government area has had to access the Gregory Hills Service NSW centre – in the neighbouring electorate of Camden.

Mr Warren says the move has caused, and continues to cause, frustration and angst among the community.

Public transport to Gregory Hills is problematic at best and is an awkward journey for those with mobility issues.

The absence of a toilet at the Gregory Hills centre has also caused distress for many customers – particularly for the elderly.

Shadow minister for customer service, Yasmin Catley, pictured with Mr Warren at the closed RMS office in Campbelltown, said the review was long overdue.

“I am intimately aware of the impact that the closure of the Campbelltown RMS has had on the local and rapidly growing community,” she said.

“I have had numerous discussions with Greg Warren regarding the absence of a Service NSW centre in Campbelltown.

“This review will evaluate what communities are in need of a Service NSW centre.

“Once the review is complete, NSW Labor will then develop a plan to address the issue.”

Campbelltown MP Greg Warren said the review would be widely welcomed throughout the community.

“The closure of the Campbelltown RMS office didn’t make sense in 2015 and it still doesn’t make sense eight years later,” he said.

“I have lost count of the number of angry and frustrated residents I have spoken to about this issue since first being elected in 2015.

“Rest assured, as a resident of Campbelltown, I share those same feelings.

“I am confident the review will determine there is a ‘blatantly obvious’ need for a Service NSW centre in Campbelltown and that it will be delivered by a Chris Minns NSW Labor Government.”

  1. About time! Closing Campbelltown was one of the worst decisions made. Having one at Edmondson Park just down the road from Gregory Hills and across the railway line from Ingleburn just ridiculous.
