Campbelltown MP Greg Warren has renewed calls on the state government to acknowledge Campbelltown for the regional hub that it is and establish a Service NSW Centre here.
In 2015, RMS offices in Campbelltown, Narellan and Ingleburn were closed and a Service NSW Centre in Gregory Hills opened instead.
Mr Warren says the decision has caused inconvenience for many Campbelltown residents.
A bus service from Campbelltown to Gregory Hills wasn’t even established until almost four years after the Gregory Hills Service Centre opened.
Meanwhile, heavy vehicle inspections are still occurring at the site of the old Campbelltown RMS office, where Mr Warren is pictured, below..
Mr Warren gave customer service minister Victor Dominello a letter outlining the case for a Service NSW Centre in Campbelltown.
Last year the government announced it would establish 10 new Service NSW Centres – however, none of those were to be located in Campbelltown.
“The decision to close the Campbelltown RMS office was outrageous and absurd,’’ says Mr Warren, who is also western Sydney spokesman for the Labor opposition.
“Campbelltown is the major hub of the Macarthur region – it’s ridiculous that there is not a Service NSW Centre located in Campbelltown.
“I have raised the issue with the minister – in fact, I personally hand delivered him the letter.
“I hope for every Campbelltown resident’s sake that he listens to our pleas and establishes a Service NSW Centre right here in Campbelltown,” Mr Warren said.
