A new three day festival in the centre of Campbelltown will be held in September. Feast of Nations will be held just before the annual Feast Campbelltown, which is a one day multicultural event at Minto.
The new festival – September 5-7 – will bring cultural music and dance, food and market stalls and cultural arts and crafts to the Campbelltown CBD for three nights, from 4pm to 10pm.
The spotlight will be on the sights, sounds and flavours of Pasifika, Southeast Asian and South Asian cultures.
Feast Campbelltown will follow on Saturday, September 20.
Combined, Feast Campbelltown and Feast of Nations are set to turn September into a celebration of cultures from across Campbelltown.
“I’m thrilled that Feast of Nations will bring three additional cultural celebrations to our CBD this year, highlighting some of our prominent cultures in Campbelltown CBD, before the annual Feast Campbelltown event returns to Redfern Park in Minto,” says Mayor Darcy Lound.
“We’re committed to empowering our multicultural communities to share their traditions, talents and cultural practices, so I look forward to seeing everyone come together in September for what is shaping up to be an exciting and unique cultural experience,” Cr Lound said.
“Thank you to the NSW Government for supporting this event and for providing the funding to bring this to our city centre,” he said.
Feast of Nations is funded through the Multicultural NSW stronger together local council major festival grants program.
Cultures recognised in Feast of Nations have been selected based on their representation within the Campbelltown community, including:
• Pacific Island Nations (Friday 5 September)
• Southeast Asian Nations (Saturday 6 September)
• South Asian Nations (Sunday 7 September)
