Emergency readiness for seniors, which will provide residents over 55 years of age practical ways to stay safe, informed and connected will be held on Monday, November 3, from 10am to 12 noon.
It is one of a number of free emergency readiness workshops by Camden Cares over the next few weeks designed to equip the local community with the tools and confidence to respond in a crisis.
They will be held at various locations around Camden, while one is online.
Emergency readiness for all abilities, will provide tailored tips and tools to ensure everyone, including people with disabilities 2-4pm, Wednesday, October 22.
Train the trainer – get ready Camden on Tuesday, October 28, 1-3pm, and Thursday, November 6, 12-2pm, will equip staff and community leaders with the tools and knowledge to support their teams and participants during emergencies.
Get ready Camden – community info session, a workshop which will teach how emergency services support you and how you can support your neighbours will be on Tuesday, November 11, 5.30-7.30.
Emergency readiness for multicultural communities, a workshop on Monday, December 8, between 6.30-8.30pm, will include strategies and information to help culturally diverse communities stay prepared.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, said she wanted residents to feel as ready and safe as possible in case of emergency situations.
“Whether you want to learn about the types of emergencies Camden may face, strengthen your ability to support neighbours, or something else entirely, there are many ways to build your confidence and readiness,” she said.
“There’s something for everyone and I encourage you to get involved.”
All sessions are free. Each participant will receive a Camden ready pack, which is a handy document holder to store your important info in case of emergency.
