Ireland Park, home of the Liverpool Rangers Football Club, is the latest beneficiary of election campaign pledges by the major parties.
This time it’s the Liberal candidate for Werriwa, Sam Kayal, who has announced that should the Coalition win power at the May 3 election up to $2.4 million in funding will be provided towards an upgrade to Ireland Park.
He says this would ensure local athletes, families, and sporting groups each have the chance to access modern, multi-sport facilities in Liverpool.
“I’ve listened to our community and local sporting groups about the need for upgrading Ireland Park, to ensure it can be utilised year-round for both winter and summer sports,” Mr Kayal said.
Liverpool Rangers Football Club president, Matt McMah, has welcomed the commitment from Mr Kayal.
“This vital upgrade to Ireland Park will provide high-quality, multi-sport synthetic surfaces and modern facilities, benefiting players of all ages,” he said.
“Sam has listened to our community and delivered this vital commitment to invest in the future of our club.’’
“I will always listen to our growing community and fight for their needs,” Mr Kayal added.
David Coleman, a Liberal Party shadow minister, welcomed the commitment and thanked Sam Kayal for his unwavering advocacy for his community.
“This announcement demonstrates that not only does Sam listen to his community, but he is effective in delivering wins for his community – just as he has done with today’s commitment to upgrade Ireland Park,” Mr Coleman said.
