Reigning Women’s NSW competition premiers Macarthur Rams have suffered another setback in their bid to somehow defend their title in 2025.

The Rams had plenty of goal scoring opportunities but could only convert one in their 2-1 defeat at the hands of APIA Leichhardt at Lynwood Park on Sunday afternoon.

This was the fourth loss in a row for the premiers, who currently languish in equal last spot after 14 rounds of the competition.

There is still time to turn things around and make the finals, but the quicker the Rams women start winning the better.

They head to the Northern Beaches this coming weekend to take on Manly, currently in fourth spot on the ladder.

Against Leichhardt, the Rams just couldn’t buy a goal, squandering several clear chances.

They started with lots of energy, but unfortunately it was the visitors who drew first blood with a goal just six minutes into the game.

It took the Rams another 60 minutes before they finally got one back to make it 1-1 courtesy of a Tea Mucenski goal with a spectacular bicycle kick.

But just three minutes later they allowed the visitors to score a second goal, and that was the end of the session.

The area’s second team in the same competition, the Bulls FC Academy, are on the opposite trajectory to the Rams.

Bulls FC are heading upwards and bagged another three premiership points with another win in Round 14, this time 2-0 over the high flying Mt Druitt Town Rangers.

The Academy side, who are in sixth spot after their win on the weekend, have transformed into one of the NPL Women’s in-form clubs over the past month, and headed into Round 14 experiencing an unbeaten run of form.

Hosting the league leading Mt Druitt Town Rangers at Northbridge Oval was a big test and they passed with flying colours.

The Bulls were determined to find a way to score against this difficult-to-breakdown Rangers outfit and would do so in the 15th minute at a corner routine where Elizabeth Grey did brilliantly to break away from her marker and stretch to meet the cross just in front of goal.

The Rangers could do very little beyond watching the ball trickle in over the line, which ensured that the Bulls would take a 1-0 lead.

The home side had clearly done their homework in the build-up to this fixture, as their second goal of the afternoon would be scored early on in the second half from another corner situation.

Grey was yet again the goal scorer for the Bulls, this time via a strong header in the 53rd minute.
