The Liberal Party failure to nominate any candidates for the September 14 council election in Campbelltown has been the big story of the past week.
The impact of not having any Liberal candidates on the ballot paper is hard to gauge.
But one thing this disaster has done is emphasise the need for residents to get to know the candidates and what they stand for.
That’s what the local government election candidate forum on September 2 hopes to achieve.
Candidates – a representative from each group seeking election – will each be asked to respond to questions which will be submitted by the public.
Questions on senior citizens, Queen Street (pictured above), Fishers Ghost festival, transport, development and even election preferences have already been submitted by local residents.
Keep them coming (see details below where to email them).
The forum will be held in the performance space of the Campbelltown Arts Centre from 6.30pm to 9pm.
The forum – just four days before pre-poll voting starts – will be hosted by Campbelltown City Council, with Eric Kontos from the South West Voice asking the questions on the night.
So if you have a question on any issue of concern and you’d like it answered by the candidates at the forum on September 2 send it to erickontos@southwestvoice.com.au
If you’d like to attend the forum you will have to register by going to the council website, where you can also submit a question https://www.campbelltown.nsw.gov.au/Home
