A 22 year old man who was arrested after a pursuit across several parts of Campbelltown faces a raft of charges.

The incident was sparked just after 12 noon yesterday when the occupant of a home on Victoria Road, Macquarie Fields, confronted a man who was allegedly trespassing on the property.

When the man left in a SUV, the home owner followed the vehicle in their own car, contacting Triple Zero.

A short time later, the SUV was sighted by PolAir.

Checks meanwhile had revealed the vehicle had been stolen from Wellington 11 days earlier on November 16.

When officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command attempted to stop the vehicle along Georges River Road, Campbelltown, it failed to do so, and a pursuit was initiated.

For safety reasons the ground pursuit was terminated but PolAir continued to monitor the SUV where it was tracked to a unit complex in Lodestone Place, Eagle Vale.

Officers proceeded to the complex where it will be alleged the SUV drove directly at an unmarked police vehicle causing significant damage to the front nearside.

The SUV proceeded to drive out of the complex where it crashed into the front yard of a home on Opal Place.

Following the crash, the driver ran from the location into nearby bushland where with the assistance of PolAir and the Dog Squad he was arrested and taken to Campbelltown Police Station.

A search of the SUV located a number of stolen identification cards; inquiries also established that the 22-year-old man did not hold a current driver’s licence.

The Claymore man was charged with nine offences, including trespassing, refused to stop during a police pursuit, use an offensive weapon to prevent detention and having stolen goods in custody.

It will also be alleged the man was involved in a fail-to-stop crash occurring on October 12 at Dean Park.

It will also be alleged that on November 22 the accused was involved in a shoplifting incident at the Bunnings store on Blaxland Road.

In both incidents police will allege that he was driving a stolen vehicle.

The man was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court yesterday where he was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on December 12.
