A public memorial service will be held for Lang Walker at the Sydney Town Hall at 11am on Friday, May 3.
The billionaire developer passed away peacefully with his family by his side in January and was laid to rest at a private family funeral service on the Gold Coast in February.
In 2015, Mr Walker was awarded an Order of Australia for his philanthropy and service to the community.
His generosity and love of helping others is well-known and extends to the Walker Family Foundation and its philanthropic partnerships in major community projects, including the new Lang Walker AO Medical Research Building – Macarthur, Powerhouse Museum at Parramatta, and support for Chris O’Brien Lifehouse among others.
Lang formed Walker Corporation over 50 years ago and built a world class business into one of Australia’s largest privately owned property companies.
Together with his team at Walker Corporation he has delivered exceptional placemaking concepts that can be seen in iconic developments such as Broadway Shopping Centre, Rhodes Peninsula, Woolloomooloo Wharf, King Street Wharf, Hope Island Resort, Collins Square and Parramatta Square.
Closer to home, Walker Corporation is preparing to build more than 13,000 homes in Appin overe the next few decades. [Mr Walker is pictured above at a function in Appin in 2016].
The Walker family say they have been touched by the outpouring of support and well wishes received and would like to extend to the wider community the opportunity to celebrate Lang’s life and achievements at a special memorial service.
