A Corrective Services NSW officer has been charged over an alleged inappropriate relationship with an inmate at a correctional facility in Sydney.

The Ingleburn woman’s employment has also been suspended.

Last week, detectives from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit commenced an investigation following a referral from the correctional facility, over an alleged inappropriate relationship between a female correctional officer and male inmate.

Following inquiries, officers arrested a 25-year-old woman at a home in Ingleburn this morning.

The woman was taken to Campbelltown Police Station, pictured above, and charged with public office misconduct and engaging in a relationship with an inmate.

She was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on July 14.

Detective Inspector Rob Hollows told a media conference this afternoon that the alleged sexual relationship had been going on for “a few months’’.

He also said that the inmate involved in the alleged relationship has been moved to another correctional facility.
