Families living in Macquarie Fields and Ingleburn can look forward to more fee-free early learning as shovels hit the ground on two new public preschools – Curran Public Preschool and Sackville Street Public Preschool.

Co-located with Curran Public School and Sackville Street Public School, the new preschools will offer a high-quality, play-based early learning program, support children’s transition into kindergarten and schooling, as well as ease pick up and drop off for parents with older students at the same school.

In addition to state-of-the-art learning areas, each new preschool will include staff facilities, a kitchen, toilet facilities and landscaped outdoor areas.

Both Curran Public Preschool and Sackville Street Public Preschool will open by early 2027, and will accommodate up to 80 children each per week.

“I’m delighted that work is starting on the new public preschools and I share the community’s excitement about seeing the preschools take shape over the coming months,’’ says Member for Macquarie Fields Anoulack Chanthivong, pictured above at the traditional sod turning ceremony.

The current principals of the two schools have also welcomed the commitments for preschools.

“A quality preschool will build strong foundations for future learning and development, leading to benefits for young people in our community well beyond their primary school years,’’ said Curran Public School principal Nicole Wade.

“The new preschool will be an important addition to our Connected Communities school, helping our children to be developmentally ready for kindergarten and become engaged and successful learners,’’ says Sackville Street Public School principal Kylie Lyneham.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our families across the Ingleburn community to access high quality early learning for their children.

“With the public preschool on school grounds, it will help support the children’s positive transition to kindergarten.’’

The two preschools in Mr Chanthivong’s electorate are part of the NSW Government’s $769 million commitment to build 100 new public preschools.

“The 100 new public preschool program shows that the Minns Labor Government is making good of our promise to improve access to high quality early learning regardless of where people live or what they earn,” Mr Chanthivong said.
