Campbelltown Council has given notice that one of its most popular pools will not be available for use for the entire month of August.
Council says the Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre – named after one Campbelltown’s best mayors of the past 50 years – will temporarily close its doors from August 1 and until September 1 as part of “important pool plant and filtration upgrade works’’ planned at the facility located in Bradbury.
The works will focus on improvements to indoor plant room including filters, pumps, controllers and electrical equipment which maintain safe operation of the on-site pools.
“Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre is one of our most popular leisure facilities, situated next to the Campbelltown Billabong Parklands and offering our community a place to come together and enjoy the water,” says Mayor Darcy Lound.
“Though these temporary interruptions will impact service, it’s important we undergo these essential upgrades ahead of the busy summer season and ensure our members continue to enjoy a high quality of service at our leisure centres,” Cr Lound said.
Council says members enrolled in swim school lessons and sporting clubs associated with the facility have been contacted regarding programming arrangements during the closure.
The Campbelltown Billabong Parklands will not be impacted by the closure and will remain open during regular winter season business hours.
