It’s a girl: police officer’s special delivery while on duty

Senior Constable Tim Burnett was conducting stationary speed enforcement duties along Williamson Road, near Ingleburn, when a motorist pulled up beside him seeking assistance.

Being approached by a member of the public wanting help is not unusual, but on this occasion, while parked on the side of the road, it was something Const Burnett was not expecting.

The motorist had his wife in the car who was about to give birth and the officer was asked to help with the delivery.

Without hesitation, Const Burnett offered reassurance to the couple and within a matter of minutes he had delivered a beautiful baby girl.

One month later and in a far less stressful situation Const Burnett, pictured above, reunited with proud parents Sela and Eugene at their Sydney home and met their beautiful daughter, Winter.

Police officers often have rewarding moments in their careers, but it really doesn’t get much better than delivering a baby during a shift.

However, Const Burnett, who is attached to Georges River Highway Patrol, has decided to remain with the NSWPF rather than changing careers to become an obstetrician.
