Campbelltown Liverpool Districts Pistol Club’s range at Kentlyn is about to receive a major upgrade.
The club has received funding for $50,000 from the NSW safe shooting grant program.
Safety improvements and other work at the club’s outdoor pistol range will be funded with the grant.
We have asked the club to give us more details about how they will spend the grant, but we are still waiting for their reply.
Member for Campbelltown Greg Warren congratulated the club for successfully applying for a grant.
“This project will increase use of local shooting facilities and encourage participation by people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities,’’ Mr warren said.
“I congratulate the Campbelltown Liverpool Districts Pistol Club on receiving a grant which will ensure the ongoing growth and success of the sport in Campbelltown and the broader South West Sydney region.’’
The club was among 25 across NSW to receive grants of between $10,000 – $50,000 for projects that improve storage, safety and security at shooting facilities, as well as purchase new equipment.
The program also invests in projects which incorporate inclusive design to improve environmental sustainability and increase use of shooting facilities.
Another key objective of the program is increasing participation in shooting by removing barriers for women and girls, people with disability, First Nations peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and LGBTQIA+ people.
“The safe shooting program supports shooting clubs to provide safe, inclusive and accessible facilities,’’ says NSW sports minister Steve Kamper.
“Projects announced today will increase the use of shooting facilities across NSW and encourage participation by people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
“This funding will play a significant role in supporting the next generation of Olympians and ensure Australia’s success at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.”
