Officer to face court over alleged telecommunication offence

A police officer who has been charged following an investigation into an alleged telecommunication offence will appear in Campbelltown Court next week.

The 35-year-old, a constable attached to a South West Metropolitan command, has been charged with using a carriage service to menace/harass/offend.

His employment status is under review.

Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command commenced an investigation after reports of an alleged telecommunication offence towards a 30-year-old woman.

They arrested and charged the accused on New Year’s Day.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday, January 13.

The driver of a truck that crashed into an M7 barrier before catching alight and rolling died on impact.

The fatal crash took place just after midnight on Monday, near Elizabeth Drive, Cecil Hills,

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze.

The body of the driver was located within the vehicle.

Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command  established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the incident.

All southbound lanes of the M7 Motorway between Elizabeth Drive and Cowpasture Road were closed and motorists advised to avoid the area immediately after the crash.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner, and anyone with dashcam footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
