A man has been charged following a pursuit with police in South Western Sydney overnight.

About 11.20pm (Saturday, December 30), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling the Ingleburn area when they attempted to stop a Honda Civic on Sackville Street due to the manner of driving.

The Honda failed to stop as directed and a pursuit was initiated travelling through local streets.

At the intersection of Hopping Road and Barff Road, the Honda lost control and mounted the kerb before colliding with the side fence of a home on Piggott Way.

The driver and sole occupant – a 45-year-old man – was arrested.

He was subject to a roadside drug test, returning a positive result before being taken to Liverpool Hospital for further assessment.

The Yagoona man was issued a court attendance notice for police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously and he is due to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on February 14 next year.
