We all know someone who is making a difference in our community.

It could be a volunteer with Meals on Wheels or someone who promotes Campbelltown as a great place to live, work and play.

Either way, have you ever thought about nominating this person for an honour such as an Australia Day citizen of the year award?

Probably not, but here’s your chance because nominations have now opened for the 2024 Campbelltown Australia Day awards.

Campbelltown residents are being encouraged to nominate family, friends, neighbours and community members.

These annual awards recognise those who have contributed to the community or excelled in the academic or sporting fields.

“The Australia Day Awards are the highest civic honour offered in Campbelltown and an opportunity to celebrate notable individuals in our community,” says Mayor George Greiss, who is pictured above with the 2023 winners.

“This year we’ve introduced a new category, Senior Citizen of the Year, and amended the Sports Award, to ensure we continue to evolve our program and highlight these stories across our city,”
Dr Greiss said.

“I encourage everyone to put forward a nomination so we can celebrate these stories,” he said.

2024 Award categories include:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Senior Citizen of the Year
  • Sports Award
  • Community Group Initiative of the Year
  • Diversity and Inclusion Award
  • Environmental Citizen of the Year

Nominations close on Friday, December 1.

Campbelltown’s Australia Day Awards are assisted by the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council.
