How does a night out with bats grab you? The Redfern Creek Bushcare Group and the Australasian Bat Society will host a two hour Night with the Bats! this Saturday, March 26, at Milton Park, Macquarie Fields.

Learn about council’s efforts to conserve the protected species also known as grey headed flying fox, and watch them fly out into the dusk twilight.

The event is one of two autumn bush explorers program, which gives residents the chance to discover the flora and fauna in their own backyard.

To round off the series, Simmos Beach Bushcare Group will take people on a wander through Simmos Beach Reserve and along the banks of the pristine Georges River at Macquarie Fields, for a Serenity Stroll this Sunday, March 27 from 1pm to 3pm.

Event participants are advised to wear long pants, sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing to all events.

More autumn bush explorers events are coming up throughout April. Details on council’s website.

Victoria Park party for Wollondilly residents

Wollondilly Council will be hosting a family friendly event this Saturday, March 26 at Victoria Park in Picton.

Market stalls, free amusement rides (for 7 to 12 year olds), an outdoor movie screening of The Little Vampire, food stalls, free face painting and pop up performances by local musicians will be on the menu.

The Summer Fund event – between 3pm and 10.30pm – has been made possible with funding from the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment’s “Festival of Place.”

Mayor Matt Gould has thanked the NSW Government for providing the funding for this community event.

“Wollondilly residents have had a challenging two years recovering from bushfires, floods, storm events and the impacts of Covid-19,” he said.

“This will be a great opportunity for locals to get out and have some fun with the family and enjoy some live music.

“It’s great to see events happening again and this is something for our community to look forward to.”

Movie tickets are available through Eventbrite. For more information, contact council on 4677 1100 or email council@wollondilly.nsw.gov.au
