Photography enthusiasts are encouraged to capture their stunning images of the region’s beautiful landscapes, plants and animals in the Macarthur Nature Photography competition.
The competition is hosted by Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly councils and there’s $3,000 in prizes up for grabs.
Competition categories include Australian Plants, Australian Animals, People Helping the Environment, and Water in the Landscape.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Greiss is calling on residents of all ages and skill levels to take part in the competition.
“We’re lucky to live in a region that is home to an abundance of bushland, filled with native plants and animals,” Cr Greiss said.
“The Macarthur Nature Photography Competition is highly anticipated every year and it’s always great to see the amazing pictures photographed by talented local people and students,” he said.
The competition closes on Friday, October 7, 2022.

Local children were rewarded for their creativity and passion for endangered species at the Threatened Species Art and Writing Competition awards ceremony this week.
More than 500 local children from the Macarthur region entered the competition which invited entrants to learn about a threatened plant or animal and represent it in an artwork or creative writing piece.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the works were of a high calibre and congratulated the winners.
“The Macarthur area is home to quite a unique environment, and it is important that we help our children learn about our flora and fauna while using their creative flair,” Cr Fedeli said.
“The Threatened Species Art and Writing Competition continues to help educate our locals, while they impress us with their creativity.
“I’d like to congratulate our winners and thank everyone who entered this year’s competition.”
Winners for each category were:
- 5-6 years old – Muhammad Khan;
- 7-9 years old – Xavier Ransom;
- 10-12 years old – Zoe Reeves, whose entry is pictured here;
- Waste to Art overall winner – Neil Bhardwaj;
- Creative writing overall winners – Amina Khan and Bella de Rooy; and
- Winning primary school – Harrington Park Primary School.
