Narellan is now home to one of outer South Western Sydney’s largest sporting venues.

It follows the completion of the second and final stage of the Narellan Sports Hub.

The facility will see thousands of locals compete across several sporting codes, from netball to athletics, rugby league, hockey and cycling but it is expected to also attract state and national competitions.

Stage two work included the construction of 14 netball courts with floodlighting, synthetic athletics track and criterion cycling track.

An international size rugby league field  and a multi-purpose field area the size of two football fields which can host a number of different sports was also delivered as part of the stage two work.

An athletics administration and club building as well as 1,150 carpark spaces in six new carpark areas were built.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said it was “fantastic’’ to see the complete Narellan Sports Hub.

“Council is committed to providing high quality facilities for the Camden community and is proud to see its vision for Narellan Sports Hub come to life,” Cr Fedeli said.

“Narellan Sports Hub will now truly be known as the home for elite sport competitions, a venue which is now able to host a number of state competitions across many sports including netball, athletics, hockey and rugby league.

“Attendees also have improved access to Narellan Sports Hub and The Northern Road with the upgrade of the Porrende Street roundabout,’’ Cr Fedeli said.

“I’d like to thank the Australian and NSW Governments for their support of sport in Camden.”

Camden State MP Peter Sidgreaves, pictured above with Cr Fedeli, said the Narellan Sports Hub was a wonderful community sports facility.

“I am pleased to see stage two is now complete and open for competition,” Mr Sidgreaves said.

“The addition of 14 extra netball courts and the synthetic athletics track and field facilities create the opportunity for state and national championships to be hosted at the Narellan Sports Hub which will bring economic benefits to businesses in the local area.”

The new features have joined the existing 30 netball courts, netball amenities building, playground and carparking which was first opened in October 2017.

Funding for stage two was received from the Western Parkland City Liveability Program, ($11.3 million) and the Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund, ($5 million).
