A man will face court today charged with sexual violence offences allegedly committed against young music students in South Western Sydney.

Detectives from Campbelltown City Police Area Command are conducting inquiries after receiving reports a music teacher had sexually abused two young girls on separate occasions in the early 2000s.

Following extensive inquiries, a 52-year-old man was arrested at Campbelltown Police Station just before Christmas.

He was charged with two counts of aggravated indecent assault of a victim under his authority.

Police will allege in court that the man sexually abused a 13-year-old female student in 2001 and a five-year-old female student in 2004/5 during private music lessons at a home at Englorie Park.

The accused was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today (Thursday).

Investigations are continuing.

In a separate police incident, detectives are appealing for assistance to identify a man who may be able to assist with inquiries into an assault at Liverpool Railway Bus Interchange on January 2.

A 46-year-old man was confronted and assaulted by an unknown man while waiting at the bus stop around 2.30pm.

The man was taken to Liverpool Hospital where he received treatment for injuries to his head and body. He has since been released.

Police were alerted and officers attached to Police Transport and Public Safety Command were notified and commenced an investigation into the incident.

The man police believe can assist with their investigation has a Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, is approximately 30-40 years old, about 175cm tall, of medium build with short black hair.

At the time, he was wearing a black-hooded jumper with red accents and a motif on the left chest area, with black pants, black Nike TN running shoes and carrying a fluorescent orange jumper.
