Covid-19 community support grants to local organisations will enable them to continue providing vital services such as food, transport and language support to members of multicultural communities in the Macarthur region.

The state member Camden, Peter Sidgreaves, has welcomed the $5,000 grants each for Big Yellow Umbrella and the Australian Pacific & Maori Community Services Inc, which will help them prioritise immediate community care support.

“We have all heard encouraging stories over the past few months showcasing communities helping our most vulnerable,’’ Mr Sidgreaves said.

“This selfless civic spirit is what makes NSW so great.

“This funding will enable Big Yellow Umbrella and the Australian Pacific & Maori Community Services Inc to continue to help the most vulnerable.”

Acting NSW multiculturalism minister Geoff Lee said the funding will provide critical support.

“The Covid-19 pandemic and measures to control its spread have presented significant challenges to our multicultural communities,” Mr Lee said.

“The NSW Government understands this and is determined to support communities to provide basic necessities to the people who need it the most.”
