A Medicare urgent care clinic has opened in the heart of the Campbelltown CBD and local MP Dr Mike Freelander says it will make a difference in the local area.

Following an expression of interest process, the Campbelltown Medical and Dental Centre has become a Medicare urgent care clinic.

It started seeing patients since its official opening yesterday by Dr Freelander.

The Campbelltown Medicare urgent care clinic delivers on the government’s commitment to make it easier for the people of NSW to get the urgent treatment they need  from highly qualified doctors and nurses – while taking pressure off the Campbelltown Hospital.

The clinic, which is located across from Campbelltown Mall and can be accessed via Allaman Street by car or Queen Street on foot, will be open for extended hours, seven days a week, and offer walk-in care that is fully bulk billed.

“This clinic in my electorate of Macarthur will provide more options to access primary care, reducing the pressure on hospitals like Campbelltown,’’ says Dr Freelander.

“I know that many residents will welcome this alternative to attending an emergency department.

“The Campbelltown Medicare urgent care clinic will ease pressure on the local ED and be much more convenient for our communities – closer to home, at short notice, and bulk billed under Medicare,” he said.

The Campbelltown clinic is one of the 14 Medicare UCCs across NSW – located in Albury, Batemans Bay, Cessnock, Coffs Harbour, Peninsula, Lake Haven, Lismore, Maroubra, Penrith, Rooty Hill, Tamworth, Westmead and Wollongong.

Almost 40 per cent of presentations to the Campbelltown Hospital are for non-urgent or semi-urgent care.
