The community in outer South Western Sydney now has access to free, walk-in mental health care and support at Liverpool.

The Medicare mental health centre is located at 203 Northumberland Street, Liverpool and is open until 9.30pm on Monday, 5pm on Tuesday and until 9.30pm Wednesday through to Sunday.

It will provide immediate support for anyone who needs mental health advice or care as well as support for those in distress.

Medicare mental health centres are supported by a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and peer support workers.

There are 31 Medicare Mental Health Centres open across Australia including the centre at Liverpool – with 30 more to be rolled out.

To ensure every centre can provide access to specialist care, the Australian Government is investing an additional $29.9 million so that every centre has a psychologist and psychiatrist on call.

“The community in South Western Sydney can now access free mental health care close to home,’’ says federal member for Werriwa, Anne Stanley.

“The Liverpool Medicare mental health centre provides a safe and welcoming space for people in the community.

“We are establishing 61 Medicare mental health centres, offering free, walk-in care, as part of our plan to strengthen Medicare.

“The Albanese Labor Government is making sure that everyone can get the mental health care and support they need,” Ms Stanley said.
