At 149 metres above sea level, the ‘Beauty Spot’ is already one of South West Sydney’s highest natural viewpoints.
It offers spectacular panoramic views across the Sydney Basin to the Blue Mountains.
While it is part of Western Sydney Parklands at Cecil Park, the lookout landmark is located within the local government area of Liverpool.
Now plans are being drawn up by the State Government to transform the lookout into a destination for walkers, runners and cyclists, as well as a great open space where visitors can gather, relax and enjoy natural beauty.
As part of the makeover plans the government has released some designs for what it could like after an upgrade.
The community is invited to have a say on the plans which include an open viewing platform located on the ridgeline, allowing visitors to experience the landscape from multiple perspectives.
The draft concept design will be delivered in stages, and has been designed to complement the site’s natural topography and open grassland character while showcasing Western Sydney’s best views.
Stage 1 will deliver the lookout, pathways, seating, native landscaping and viewing areas with construction expected to begin in late 2026 and be completed mid-2027.
Future stages will incorporate shade structures and opportunities to celebrate First Nations culture through integrated interpretation and storytelling within the lookout.
They will also explore opportunities to expand The Beauty Spot Lookout into a broader visitor destination, with improved access and entry points, visitor parking, amenities, shelters and spaces for gathering and recreation.

Member for Leppington, Nathan Hagarty, welcomed the proposal.
“South Western Sydney is growing quickly, and our investment in The Beauty Spot will give local families another great place to get outdoors and enjoy what our region has to offer,’’ he said.
“Whether you’re walking, running, cycling or spending time with family and friends, this lookout will open up some of Western Sydney’s most spectacular views for more people to experience.
“As our communities grow, we’re making sure quality parks, open spaces and recreation opportunities grow with them, so people can enjoy them close to home.”
