The 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur is a registered charity run by a totally volunteer committee – with great support from local sponsors.

One hundred percent of funds raised go to the Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre, the Children’s Cancer Services and the Oncology Ward at Campbelltown Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit at Camden Hospital.

It means cancer patients of all ages benefit from funds raised by 24 Hour.

Funds are also allocated twice each year so that the hospitals can purchase much needed medical equipment and resources across all areas of cancer care, from chemotherapy to radiation treatment, speech pathology, occupational therapy, home and hospital palliative care, staff training and carer support.

Chairperson and driving force of 24 Hour Warren Morrison (pictured above with deputy chair Sue McGarrity) says the goal this year is to reach the magic figure of $5 million raised so far.

Tomorrow night a special McDonalds fundraiser might help 24 Hour get a bit closer to the $5 million target.

McDonalds, a foundation sponsor, will give 24 Hour 10 percent of sales at 17 stores across the Macarthur region tomorrow, Wednesday, August 17.

“It’s a great opportunity for the community to spoil the family with a McDonalds meal while raising money for local cancer services at Camden and Campbelltown Hospital at the same time,’’ says Warren Morrison.
