Macarthur FC have signed up to Boots For All, a national organisation that aims to break down barriers to sports participation by collecting and distributing quality, new and near-new sporting equipment.

Launched in 2006, the initiative’s goal is simple: collect new and near-new sporting equipment and distribute them to those in the community in need.

Macarthur FC will show their support for Boots For All by placing a donation station at the club’s store inside Macarthur Square shopping centre.

Bulls members, fans and local grassroot players are encouraged to donate their boots.

Macarthur FC midfielder Charles M’Mombwa and club chairman Gino Marra recently attended a ceremony in the state parliament with sport minister Geoff Lee and Stuart Hodge, CEO Football NSW to launch the program.

Speaking at the event Charles M’Mombwa said it’s important to support organisations like Boots for All to achieve their goal in helping less fortunate members of our community.

“Sport is a great way to be active and socialise with friends, but without the proper equipment you can easily not feel part of the team and fit in,’’ M’Mombwa said.

“To have an organisation dedicated to providing less fortunate members of our community with quality sporting equipment is fantastic.”

Sport minister Geoff Lee, Football NSW CEO Stuart Hodge, Charles M’Mombwa and speaker of the house Jonathan O’Dea.

Mr Marra said every weekend across our region over 30,000 locals participate in community football.

“This is a great opportunity for not only our members and fans, but our community to give back to those less fortunate,’’ he said.

“We are honoured to be the first A-League club to support Boots For All and look forward to assisting many in our community through the work our Macarthur FC Foundation provides in the local area.”

Boots For All board director Ron Ross said Boots For All has been a great success in Victoria.

“We are now keen to replicate this momentum here in Sydney and Greater NSW and are delighted to have Macarthur FC on board to support this wonderful initiative.”
