Mayors Lound, Cagney and Gould: joining forces for a good cause.

The Mayors of Camden, Campbelltown and Wollondilly are joining forces to host an inaugural fundraising event on the 25th anniversary of the Kids of Macarthur Health Foundation.

The Macarthur mayors combined charity dinner will be held on November 7 at the newly renovated Camden Civic Centre.

All the money raised will go to the foundation.

Foundation CEO Denise McGrath said she was very excited for the inaugural event.

“Kids of Macarthur and all three councils involved are all about helping and enhancing the community,” she said.

“It’s wonderful to be able to come together for an event like this.”

Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, said she was honoured the newly refurbished Camden Civic Centre would be hosting the prestigious event.

“We’re putting the finishing touches on the $9.9 million upgrade to our much loved community venue, which will transform it into a state of the art facility,’’ she said.

“It’s incredibly heartwarming to be hosting the inaugural Macarthur mayors combined charity dinner here as one of the civic centre’s first major events,” she said.

“Since they were first formed in 2000, Kids of Macarthur have been tirelessly dedicated to improving health care for every child living in our region.

“They work incredibly hard to raise, stimulate and advocate for funding of children and adolescent health services and bringing the Macarthur community along for the journey.’’

The November 7 event will include on stage entertainment, a silent auction and raffles of items donated by sponsors, local businesses and the three councils.

The foundation uses money raised to buy the latest paediatric medical equipment available, to improve the level of local health care offered in the paediatric units in Campbelltown and Camden hospitals.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Darcy Lound, said he was proud to join forces with his fellow mayors to raise funds for this wonderful local charity.

“This is a great example of what can be achieved when we work together on collective initiatives that impact all communities and ultimately support the whole region,” he said.

“Kids of Macarthur have done a tremendous job supporting families and children for the past 25 years, making a real difference.

“This promises to be a fantastic night at the Camden Civic Centre and I’m calling on our community to once again show their generosity and purchase tickets early.”

Mayor of Wollondilly, Cr Matt Gould, said he was looking forward to collaborating with Camden and Campbelltown Councils to support this fantastic local charity.

“With three Councils working together we will be able to raise a significant amount of money for the Kids of Macarthur on their 25th anniversary,” he said.
